WASHINGTON (VOR) - A report suggests Washington influenced Havana's decision to reject US intelligence leaker Edward Snowden's request to land in the island nation.

The report is carried by the Russian business daily, Kommersant. VOR's Sofia Mannos spoke with Kommersant's Yelena Chernenko about this new twist in the Snowden case.

Chernenko said several sources confirm that Snowden had a ticket to Cuba through Moscow from Hong Kong. Snowden was in Hong Kong before going to Russia.

"The Cuban authorities being pressured by the Americans denied the Aeroflot flight to be landed in Havana if Snowden is on board," Chernenko said.

Snowden has been granted temporary asylum in Russia.
