Russians flock to see St Andrew's Cross ahead of Baptism anniversary
Sergey Stchebligin, President of the St. Andrew Foundation, organizer of bringing the relic from Greece to Russia, has noted that despite the fact that during five days in St. Petersburg no less than 200 thousand people had come to bow to the cross, there had been no hustle and conflicts in queues. "Both guards and pilgrims were attentive to each other, helped the elderly and children, shared drinking water," Stchebligin said.

A thanksgiving service was served right at the train station, after which the ark with the relic was put in a car and taken to the St. George's Cathedral of the Moscow region city of Odintsovo.
Addressing the assembled, Patriarchal Vicar of the Moscow eparchy, Metropolitan Juvenaly of Krutitsy and Kolomna, said that it was not by chance that Moscow region cities of Dmitrov and Odintsovo were selected for bringing the relics there: “temples are restored (there today) and the Church life is being revived”, and many believers live there, for whom the worship of St. Andrew's cross will become a special joy.
The cross is accompanied by a Greek delegation and head of the Odintsovo municipal district of the Moscow region, Alexander Gladyshev.
At 11 o’clock the cross will arrive in Odintsovo. It is possible to worship the relic today till 22.00, and tomorrow from 7.00 to 15.00.
Then the cross of the Apostle Andrew will be brought to the Assumption Cathedral in Dmitrov. On July 17, at 17.00, the first thanksgiving service will begin, and access to the temple will be opened till 23.00. On July 18, it will be possible to visit the Cathedral from 7.00 to 23.00, on July 19 - from 7.00 till noon.
July 19 – 26, the relic will stay in the Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Savior; July 26 - 28 - in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra in Kiev, and from July 29 to August 2 - in the Memorial Church of All Saints in Minsk.
The delivery of St. Andrew's Cross from Greece to Russia opens a series of celebrations dedicated to the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia, which will unite three states: Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.
