Cyclone Freda slams Solomon Islands

Tropical Cyclone Freda has hit the Solomon Islands, a state in the south-western part of the Pacific Ocean.

According to the local meteorological service, the wind, with speeds reaching 130 km per hour, has ripped off the roofs of many houses and flattened trees.

No victims have been reported.

Currently, the cyclone is moving towards New Caledonia, a group of islands controlled by France.
