Shia protest Sunni rule in Bahrain

Bahrain police dispersed an opposition rally in the capital of the kingdom using tear gas and stun grenades to drive protestors of the regime from the center of Manama.

The demonstrators are demanding the overthrow of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

A Previous opposition rally held on Friday passed without incident.

The protests by the majority Shi'ites of Bahrain's population, began in February last year in the wake of the revolutionary events in Tunisia and Egypt.

They demand democratic reforms, the creation of new jobs and providing them the same rights as the Sunni minority which has been in power for over 200 years.
