Russian aircraft to fly over US

Between October 8 and 22 the Russian Tupolev TU-154M aircraft is to make observation flights over the US territory as part of the Treaty on Open Skies, an official with the Defense Ministry said Monday.

The aircraft is to make 2 flights taking off from the Wright-Patterson and Travis air bases. In their turn pilots from Britain will conduct observation flights over the territory of Russia during the same period.

The Treaty on Open Skies was signed in 1992 by 34 countries. Under the treaty observation flights are conducted over the territories of the US, Canada, European states and Russia.
