Three terrorist chieftains arrested in Abkhazia
In a join anti-terror operation, Russian and Abkhazian special forces arrested three heads of the notorious Islamist terrorist organization, Imarat Kavkaz, suspected of mulling a series of terror attacks on the Russian Sochi resort, which is to host the 2014 Winter Olympics, Russia’s anti-terror committee announced today.
On May 4-5, Russian special forces carried out a special operation against the Imarat Kavkaz cell in Georgian breakaway region of Abkhazia, uncovering ten caches with arms, ammo, and explosives.
The Russian anti-terror committee suspects the discovered explosives stockpiles were to be used in a terrorist attack on Sochi.
More weapons caches were further discovered at the places of residence of the three detained terrorist chiefs.
