Russian rescuers go to Serbia

A delegation of the Russian Emergency Ministry headed by Deputy Minister Vladimir Puchkov has arrived in the Serbian city of Nis to take part in the opening ceremony of the Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Centre for Emergency Situations.

A delegation of the Russian Emergency Ministry headed by Deputy Minister Vladimir Puchkov has arrived in the Serbian city of Nis to take part in the opening ceremony of the Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Centre for Emergency Situations.

The Centre’s main tasks will be clearing territories of mines, putting out forest fires, dealing with the consequences of natural disasters and training personnel.

 It is planned to keep one Russian Emergency Ministry helicopter in Nis on a permanent basis. Earlier, Russian Mi-26 and Ka-32 helicopters and Be-200 fire-fighting aircraft were on temporary duty in Serbia.
