Muslim Brotherhood set to dominate Egypt’s Parliament
Voting in Egypt’s lower house of parliament ended Wednesday night and the results are expected to be announced today. But it’s widely known that the Muslim Brotherhood is going to take the majority of seats in the lower house. What this means for the future of Egypt is still to be known. Mikhail Roshchin, Candidate of Historical Sciences and Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Oriental Studies at the Russian Academy of Science and a Middle East specialist, believes the Freedom and Justice Party, which was formed by the Muslim Brotherhood in May 2011, is poised to win around 40-46% of seats in Egypt’s newly forming parliament.
