The Iranian Navy has successfully test-fired a series of Nour surface-to-surface cruise missiles during military exercises off the Makran coast in southeastern Iran.

After three days of military maneuvers known as Velayat 94, Iranian naval forces test fired the missiles on Friday. With a range of 93 miles, the Nour missiles proved to be both accurate and powerful.

Commodore Seyyed Mahmoud Mousavi, a spokesman for the Iranian Navy, told reporters that "the Navy’s vessels simultaneously fired surface-to-surface Nour cruise missiles and destroyed pre-determined targets and successfully accomplished this mission."

Speaking to reporters, Iranian Navy chief, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, added that the “proud move” by the Iranian Navy "strikes fear into the heart" of hostile enemies.

The missiles can be fired from land, as well as from naval vessels.

The four-day annual exercises began on Wednesday in the waters east of the Strait of Hormuz.

"The drills are aimed at showing to the people of the entire world the Islamic Republic of Iran’s competence and authority in establishing security and defending the country’s maritime borders across seas, especially in the Strait of Hormuz, the Sea of Oman, and northern Indian ocean," Sayyari said.

The drills, Tehran’s largest naval exercise, faced a minor setback on Wednesday when Iran was forced to address the presence of a US warship approaching the operation zone.

"As we anticipated that the Americans may approach the drill zone to learn about our tactics, we warned them once by maritime patrol aircraft and again by the Alborz destroyer," Sayyari said in an interview with Fars News Agency.

The US vessel left the area, "accordingly."

The Iranian Navy also conducted drills in the Sea of Oman last November. These exercises included the use of sophisticated submersibles, including the submarines Tareq and Ghadir.

What a joke....the US could demolish Iran in a heartbeat without breaking a sweat...Iranian missle technology isn't going to deter anyone if they provoke a preemptive attack for cheating on the nuke deal.

Jg38691, the Persian-Iranian civilisation is a formidable inventive force from alcohol via the gas laser used for holograms, refrigeration technology, wireless communication and medicine, including gene technology... why should they be any worse in nukes and missiles?

It is the US military that has become a joke. On a very minor level I met three of them, including one officer, in Poland relatively recently. Two were female and one a male. All those I was also with from other nations regarded the Americans as puffed up fools with little skill. We did however smile politely to them as they displayed their mediocrity and did not wish to be rude.

The US is for the first time since WW2 really actually pushing against people who can fight back. I agree that the US has great power BUT is the US willing to see thousands of US body bags on US ports and airfields? Is the US willing to bring nuclear destruction to American cities ? Detroit I know would not look much different.

The US is attempting to bully those who can and will strike back rather that become serfs of the US elite.

Iran and whatever motley arsenal they've still got cobbled together are the Saudis' and Turks' only major rival in the area, besides Israel and Egypt. They know that a major confrontation with the US will be under Russian control, not theirs, even if they're fighting in it. But Turkey gives them lots to worry about, so this is for their benefit. And that motley arsenal is getting overhauled fast.

Iran should have never give up the nuclear development or bomb. It is like North Korea whether like porky and his clan their or not the only guarantee that America will not invade it. Running a CIA concocted false flag operation is an other thing. North Korea now and Iran this day should still be vigilant against this.
