Clinton Campaign Calls Wikileaks Docs 'Fake' Even Before Their Release

Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri called Wikileaks' documents on the US presidential candidate "probably a fake" despite the fact that they haven't been released yet.

"Friends, please remember that if you see a whopper of a Wikileaks in next two days — it's probably a fake," Hillary for America Communications Director wrote on Sunday.

​Wikileaks whistleblower site responded by saying that "Biggest 'whoppers' are those your [Clinton's] campaign has been telling. WikiLeaks will continue its perfect record."

​Social media users were also quick to react to such a controversial statement by Clinton's campaign staffer. Many of them noted that Wikileaks has not published a single fake during 10 years, while some social media users suggested that the Clinton campaign intends yet again to blame Russia over the "whopper."

So far, Wikileaks has released 32 batches of leaked emails from the account of US Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta. The new email disclosure pushed the total number of the leaked emails to 52,481, which is even more than 50,000 that WikiLeaks promised to publish before the US presidential election on November 8. The whistleblower website published the first batch of emails on October 8.

On October 20, the whistleblowing website also published a bunch of letters sent to or by Barack Obama before he became US president.

Earlier this week, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange dismissed the allegations of Hillary Clinton’s campaign that Russia was responsible for the revelations made by the whistleblowing website in an interview with John Pilger aired by RT.

Speaking during the final presidential debate in October, Clinton accused the Russian government of allegedly carrying out cyberattacks to influence  the US election. Moscow called such accusations absurd and ungrounded.

Russian President Vladimir Putin himself recently commented on the accusations. "Does anyone seriously think that Russia can somehow influence the choice of the American people? Is America a banana republic or what? America is a great power," Putin said.
