Moscow hopes the US-led international coalition takes the same cautious and responsible approach to liberating Mosul that was employed to reduce civilian casualties in Aleppo, Russia’s Mission to the United Nations said in a statement.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Russian statement recalled that the opening of an exit corridor to allow extremists to evacuate eastern Aleppo had saved many lives.

“We hope that such a proper, cautious and responsible approach will be demonstrated by the coalition including in its further actions in Mosul,” the statement noted on Monday.

The exit corridor in Aleppo was opened for militants including even those who belonged to terrorist groups, the statement noted.
