As the Turkish government continues to detain those suspected of being involved in last week’s failed coup attempt, the number has exceeded 10,000.

"The number of those detained is 10,410 people," Yasin Aktay, spokesman for Turkey’s ruling AK Party, said according to Anadolu News.

"This includes 287 police officers, 7,423 soldiers, 2,014 judges and prosecutors, and 686 civil servants."

Last week’s coup attempt left nearly 300 people dead and over 1,000 injured. Nearly 50,000 have been targeted by the administration of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his attempts to "cleanse" the government.
