The government of Cuba is not the only beneficiary of improved relations with the United States, as opportunities spread to the island nation’s fledging community of entrepreneurs, US Senator Patrick Leahy said at a news conference with private Cuban business leaders on Wenesday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – Leahy stated that the Cuban government has benefited, adding that it is "unavoidable."

Leahy cited stops in Cuba by US cruise ships, the beginning of regular airline service, as well as cultural and educational visits as already creating opportunities for Cuban entrepreneurs.

Private business will benefit even more when the US embargo against Cuba is finally lifted, more than 50 years after the restrictions were first imposed at the height of the Cold War, Leahy noted.

Leahy is hosting a group of Cuban entrepreneurs in Washington, DC.
