    A new study researching the effects celebrity can have on how the public views scientific issues, has revealed an unlikely bogeyman: famed English biologist Richard Dawkins.

    The report by Rice University, questioned British scientists, many of whom said that they think that Richard Dawkins misrepresents science.

    Despite the researchers not mentioning Dawkins by name, several of those interviewed brought the biologist and atheist-campaigner up themselves, with 80% saying that they reject his approach to public engagement, though his books, TV interviews and other debates.

    Dawkins has been under fire in recent years for comments on Islam and date rape.
