The shortlist for the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest has been announced, the competition’s organizer, Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency, said Thursday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The winners will be announced on August 4. The award ceremony, the Grand Prix announcement and the exhibition opening ceremony will take place in Moscow on August 30.

"This year the competition has shown record-breaking results in terms of the quality and composition of the entries. In addition, the competition exceeded last year's results, collected about 6,000 works by young photojournalists from 71 countries and from all five continents," Alexander Shtol, the director of Rossiya Segodnya’s Photo Information Directorate, said.

Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest Accepts Final Entries
This is the second edition of the annual contest, run by Rossiya Segodnya under the auspices of the Russian mission to the UN cultural body UNESCO.

The jury comprises leading international photojournalists, including Xinhua News Agency Vice Director of the Photographic News Department Zheng Wei, and is headed by Associated Press Deputy Director of Photography Denis Paquin.
