MOSCOW, January 26 (Sputnik) – Famous Greek singer Artemios “Demis” Roussos has died at the age of 68 in Athens, Greek news agency Proto Thema reported Monday.
The news agency did not identify the cause of death.
Roussos, born in Alexandria, Egypt on June 15, 1946, has sold over 60 million albums worldwide.
Among his many hits are "Goodbye My Love, Goodbye," "Forever and Ever," "From Souvenirs to Souvenirs" and "My Only Fascination."
Roussos gained international recognition when he formed progressive rock band Aphrodite's Child, with Greek soundtrack superstar Vangelis, in 1967. The group broke up in 1972, and Roussos launched his solo career.
The Greek singer's most recent album was released in 2009. Throughout his career Roussos recorded albums in several languages including English, German, French and Spanish.
