A van hit pedestrians in Barcelona’s central Ramblas area on Thursday evening.
  • A van rammed into a crowd in Barcelona's Ramblas tourist area.
  • According media reports, at least 13 people were killed, 32 people were injured.
  • According to a statement from Catalonia government, 1 person is confirmed dead and 32 others in serious condition in hospital
  • The local police confirmed that it was a terrorist attack.
  • The police reccomended people to avoid the area.
  • The suspect fled the scene.
  • Shortly after the incident, two armed men broke into a restaurant nearby.
  • At the same time, local media reported, that armed perpetrators of the attack barricaded themselves in a Turkish restaurant near Boqueria market taking hostages.
  • El Periodico newspaper reported that the suspected perpetrator was a man of 5’7’’ wearing a white shirt with blue stripes.
  • The police is holding negotiations with the suspects.
  • The CIA has reportedly warned the Catalan police of possible terrorist attack prior to the van ramming in Barcelona's city center on Thursday.
