Seeing Double: Actor Jason Statham Has Turkish 'Twin'

The Turkish capital Antalya can now boast of having its very own version of the 49-year-old English action movie star.

İsmail Yıldırım, a 37-year-old resident of Antalya, recently started gaining popularity, thanks to his resemblance to the Hollywood actor Jason Statham. Many tourists often mistake İsmail for the star of Guy Ritchie's "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch." After learning the truth, people are still gladly taking pictures with the actor's Turkish clone.

​According to Turkish media, friends and acquaintances have since dubbed İsmail "the local Jason." While Statham was most recently seen in "Mechanic: Resurrection," his Turkish counterpart can be seen working as a real mechanic at the local car service center.

Now, İsmail dreams of starting his acting career, probably as Statham's stand-in. Thus, the man is actively trying to establish contacts with film production companies.
