Lockheed Martin stated that the US Army has issued a new $82 million logistical support contract for the Apache attack helicopter’s targeting system.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US Army has issued a new $82 million logistical support contract for the Apache attack helicopter’s targeting system, defense contractor Lockheed Martin said in a statement Monday.

“Lockheed Martin received an $82 million Performance Based Logistics (PBL) contract… from the U.S. Army for AH-64 Apache helicopter Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor (M-TADS/PNVS) system sustainment,” the statement read.

The system allows AH-64 Apache helicopter pilots to locate targets in all conditions, according to the statement.

The US Army said the AH-64 Apache is its primary and most advanced attack helicopter.

The Lockheed Martin contract is expected to be completed on December 31, 2015, the US Defense Department said in a statement.
