US embassy in Manila announced that Terrorists are plotting to conduct kidnappings in places popular among foreigners in the Philippines.

US Halts Rifle Sales to Philippines Amid Rising Tensions With Manila
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) Terrorists are plotting to conduct kidnappings in places popular among foreigners in the Philippines, the US embassy in Manila announced in a travel warning on Thursday.

“The US Embassy alerts US citizens that terrorist groups are planning to conduct kidnappings in areas frequented by foreigners on the southern portion of Cebu Island, specifically the areas around Dalaguete and Santander,” the warning said.

The embassy also noted that US citizens should avoid travelling to the mentioned areas and remain aware of their surroundings.

According to the warning, targets of possible terrorist actions include sporting events, theaters, markets and public transportation.
