Officials at Frontier Airlines say they called the authorities after it was discovered that a passenger had concealed a monkey under his shirt on a flight to Las Vegas. Airline spokesman Richard Oliver said the incident occurred Tuesday on a flight leaving Columbus, Ohio, to the gambling capitol of the US.

By neglecting to notify the airline that he was bringing a service animal on the flight, and refusing to present documentation validating the monkey’s status, Oliver said the passenger broke airline policy.

Christine Crews, a spokeswoman for McCarran International Airport, said that law enforcement officers boarded the plane and confirmed the monkey was a certified service monkey. Oliver stated that the passenger had smuggled the monkey aboard in a duffel bag where it remained throughout the flight. At this time it is not clear whether the passenger will face legal consequences for stowing his monkey aloft.
