Maduro Accuses US of Waging 'Oil War' Against Venezuela, Russia
MOSCOW, February 2 (Sputnik) — Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has accused the US and Vice President Joe Biden of plotting a conspiracy against his country, according to a report on the website Ultimas Noticias.

"The north imperial power has entered a dangerous phase of desperation, has gone to talk to the continent's governments to announce the overthrow of my government. And I accuse Vice President Joe Biden of this," the website quotes the president as saying.

The president stressed that it was Biden who held such talks with the presidents and prime ministers of other countries.

Nicolas Maduro already made a similar statement on Friday, when he said that several US federal agencies had concocted various conspiracy plans against Venezuela and were plotting a coup against him.

President Maduro Says US Aims to Intimidate Venezuela With Sanctions
"President Obama, are you aware of these plans to promote violence and a coup in Venezuela? I appeal to your conscience," the local media quoted Maduro as saying in his speech from the presidential palace.

Maduro then said that the time may come when it is impossible to maintain diplomatic relations with the US because of constant attacks from Washington and US diplomats on Caracas.

"There are US diplomats in Venezuela contacting military officials to betray their country, looking to influence socialist political leaders, public opinion leaders and entrepreneurs to provoke a coup," he said.

On Sunday, the president urged the nation to join forces and prepare for any possible military coup scenario.
