Russia's English language RT-TV channel was nominated for the International Emmy Awards in the 2012 News category, the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences said on its Web site.
The Russian channel was nominated for its coverage of Occupy Wall Street protests.
“On October 15, 2011, the Occupy movement went global. It started in New York City when protesters, unhappy with the way their government was handling the economy, pitched tents outside the stock exchange. RT brings the protesters' message worldwide,” organizers said.
It will compete with Al Jazeera’s coverage of the Libyan uprising, NHK footage of the March 2011 Japanese earthquake and TV Globo’s coverage of January 2011 heavy rains and landslides in Brazil.
