Some people become surprisingly inventive when it comes to money. This was the case with a Chinese man, who thought he would deceive the Russian border control, but failed.

A Chinese tourist tried transporting 3.6 kilograms of gold across the Russian border without declaring it.

The man had several gold bars hidden under the insoles of his shoes, when he was stopped by the customs control, according to the East Siberian Transport Prosecutor's Office.

The total value of the precious metal reportedly exceeded 8.6 million rubles (about $148, 000).
