Senator from Kentucky Mitch McConnell was re-elected as majority leader of the US Senate, according to the senator’s spokesperson Don Stewart.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Republicans in the US Senate have unanimously re-elected Senator Mitch McConnell to serve as majority leader, the senator’s spokesperson Don Stewart said on Wednesday.

McConnell was re-elected by acclamation "by his colleagues with a standing ovation," Stewart said as quoted by the Hill.

The senator from Kentucky has served as the Senate’s majority leader since 2015.
