After the incident, police forced the crowd away from the White House.

Trump won in the Tuesday US presidential election, despite expectations that his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton would come ahead. Trump secured more than the 270 electoral votes needed to win the US presidency, although Clinton won the popular vote with the support of 59.6 million Americans.

On Wednesday, hundreds of people staged anti-Trump protests across the country, including in New York City and the states of California, Oregon and Washington.

A group of students from American University in the US capital staged an anti-Trump protest and burned an American flag.
