Additional patrols were deployed after a man stabbed a passenger to death and injured three others at a Grafing train station 22 miles east of Munich, Germany.
Police identified the attacker as a 27-year-old German citizen. He reportedly shouted "God is great" in Arabic during the attack, according to unconfirmed witness reports from German media.
Germany’s Federal Interior Ministry Thomas de Maiziere described the knife attack as an "awful, cowardly" act. He said no definitive motive of the assault had been established.
The attacker faces criminal charges of murder and attempted murder and the criminal process is due to start on Wednesday.
