A network of hacktivists popularly known as Anonymous launched a campaign on Twitter, targeting the McKinney police department in the US state of Texas, following an incident in which a police officer physically and verbally abused unarmed black teenagers at an afternoon pool party.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) On Saturday, a seven-minute video clip was posted on YouTube, showing a white police officer aggressively throwing a black teenage girl to the ground and pulling a gun on other teenagers at the party.

As the video went viral, Anonymous opened an @OpMcKinney Twitter account, calling for punishment of the police officer.

The officer’s name, according to Anonymous, is Eric Casebolt, a police patrol supervisor. The hacktivists claim the officer was sued for sexual assault in 2008, but the case was dismissed.

Anonymous stressed that there is no justification for police aggression against innocent women and children, and called for an end to racial bias by law enforcement and police brutality.

Several cases of police brutality in the United States, including killings of unarmed African-Americans by white police officers, have triggered a wave of public anger and mass protests against excessive use of force by law enforcement in past months.
