According to a report by Iranian news agency IRNA the Post Company of Iran will use drones made by the Institute for Post and Communication of the Ministry of Communications and Information. The drones will be able to transport packages weighting up to 4 kg for as far as 10 km.
Before the project kicks off, the Post Company of Iran has to get a special permission to use drones in Iranian air. Hossein Mehri is confident that his company will be able to obtain all the necessary permission.
“We are sure we will be able to persuade the Iranian authorities to give the go-ahead to postal drones,” said Mehri.
I international experience in using drones for postal communication has met with mixed results so far. Companies such as the US giant Amazon have long been planning to launch full-scale drone postal delivery, but have fallen foul to technical problems.
However, undeterred, this new method of delivering post is being tested in some regions of the UK.
