In May, Japan will launch its first hybrid robot and phone. It works as a smartphone; easily fits in a pocket, but it can also walk, dance, talk and show pictures using its built-in laser projector.

A number of wonderful and sometimes weird inventions have appeared around the world in recent years. Below is a look at some of them.

Touchy, a Human Camera

Gadget ‘Touchy’ looks like a helmet and robot's head at the same time, but in fact it is a camera. However, it takes pictures using a peculiar algorithm: Touchy automatically photographs the person with whom the owner shakes hands. There is however, one detail, the touch should last for more than ten seconds.

Eco-Smartphone

In order to create the round smartphone ‘Runcible’ the developers of Apple and Sony had to collaborate. The gadget, whose body is made out of wood, works on the operating system Firefox OS. ‘Runcible’ has access to the network, camera and battery. It was designed to last four days without having to be recharged. The only catch is that in order to call on it, one must use a Bluetooth-headset.

Alcoho-Lock

The Japanese company KOOWHO has presented a special lock for cyclists that does not allow them to ride in a drunken state.

Alcoho-Lock is attached to the wheel and locks in. To open it, one needs to breathe into a special sensor. If the driver is drunk, the gadget does not only block the wheel of the bike, but also informs the relatives about the incident.

Jolly Tracker Santa Beard

If among your friends there are chronic pessimists, then it is a good idea to give them a beard called ‘Jolly Tracker’. They definitely won’t be able to control their smile!

The gadget monitors the facial expressions of the owner with the help of special sensors; information about their number per minute and duration of it is transmitted via a special application. If the owner of the ‘beard’ is sad, the beard will punish him by sending an electric charge.

So the person wearing it must refrain from frowning and try to smile as much as possible.

Pedigree ‘The Posting Tail’

The company Pedigree invented a gadget that will help dogs publish photos onto Facebook. A device with a built-in camera, which is called the Posting Tail, is attached to the back of an animal and takes a picture every time the dog wags its tail.

All of the photos are automatically published to the animal's page on social networking sites. So it is possible that pets may soon have more followers on Instagram than their owner.

Tomatan Robot

If a person is an equally avid lover of running and tomatoes, then there is good news. Japanese inventors have created a robot called Tomatan which during a marathon sits on the shoulders of the runner and feeds him tomatoes.

There are however two minuses. First is that only seven tomatoes can be placed inside the device and it weighs about eight kilograms.

Hair Washing Robot

Swedish inventor Simon Giertz regularly entertains her subscribers on YouTube with new inventions.

This girl has invented an alarm clock that hits the owner on the face when it goes off. She has created an applauding machine and various other incredible things.

Her latest creation is a robot which can be used to wash hair or just to randomly slap people.

Firefly Communicator

The Firefly Communicator device that was invented by the American Joey Stein, will allow everyone to communicate with fireflies.

The device copies the insect’s signals using light pulses. When the communicator is turned off the device starts blinking and calls the fireflies to come to it. So it provides an interactive experience with nature.

Pavlok Habit Changing Wristband

A British inventor has invented a special bracelet for people who are ‘shopaholics’. The device, which should be worn as a wrist band, is linked to a bank account. If a person spends more money than they can afford, it sends and electric shock.

Smarttress

In Spain, a mattress has been invented that will help prevent adultery among couples. Next to its springs, there are sensors that are connected to a person’s phone.

These sensors are there to inform at what time and how many people used the mattress.
