MOSCOW (Sputnik) — US man Julio Prieto will face court in the Siberian town of Karasuk on the charges of illegal crossing into Russia from Kazakhstan, the prosecutor's office of Novosibirsk Region said Thursday.
"Assistant Prosecutor of the Karasuk district Sergei Rakhimov indicted 29-year old US citizen Julio Prieto," the prosecutor's office press release said.
On September, 14, Prieto, traveling from Kazakhstan, was refused entry to Russia due to the absence of a visa and attempted to cross the border bypassing the checkpoint. He was detained by a border security patrol.
Prieto admitted his wrongdoing.
