Obama to Discuss Anti-Daesh Fight With National Security Council on Tuesday

US President Barack Obama will hold a meeting with the National Security Council on Tuesday to discuss the fight against the Daesh extremist group, the White House said.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Central Intelligence Agency, the State Department and Department of the Pentagon will take part in the meeting, according to the statement.

Daesh, outlawed in a number of countries worldwide, including Russia, controls large territories in Syria and Iraq, spreading its influence to North Africa and other regions.

The US-led coalition has been carrying out a campaign against the extremist group in Syria and Iraq since 2014.
