Moscow and Tehran will sign o contract on the delivery of Su-30SM multirole fighters to Iran this year.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – A contract for the delivery of Russian Su-30SM Flanker multirole fighters to Iran will be signed in 2016, a high-ranking official in the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation said Wednesday.

“Iran has actually expressed its interest in the purchase of an order of Su-30SM fighters, but so far the parties are only discussing the issue in negotiations. The contract will be signed this year,” the official told RIA Novosti.

On Tuesday, Iranian Defense Minister Hosein Dehghan met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, and other officials in Moscow.

On February 11, a source in the Iranian Defense Ministry told Sputnik that the country’s defense minister planned to discuss Iran’s need for Su-30s and hopefully sign a procurement contract for them during his Moscow visit.

The Su-30SM, commissioned in 2013-2014, is a two-seat derivative of the Su-27UB jet, capable of air-to-air and air-to-ground strikes and can be equipped with a wide variety of precision-guided munitions.

Russia and Iran stepped up their military cooperation last year after Tehran reached a deal with six world powers to scale back its nuclear research in exchange for an easing of sanctions against it.

All Iran needs is the Brahmos ramjet tech, and it can destroy saudi/qatari oil facilities in 5 minutes. No need for any expensive fix.

Delivery date safely set for 2101 .. hopefully .. we pray .. god willing.

Just get them there FAST. BRAHMOS tech is exclusive of RusHindi ownership. MAYBE Theyy accept to sell a few. But not the tech. Everyone loves already done R&D, that is extremely expensive and time consuming.
For Russia part of the tech wasn't completely new. See MOSKIT, Next is Hypersonic, in straight line.

The SU-30 is a fantastic platform. It is every bit the equal of the F-15C currently flown by Saudi Arabia and Israel. Iran receiving the SU-30 is the main driver behind Israel frantically seeking to purchase the new F-15SE "Silent Eagle". The F-15SE is heavily upgraded F-15, which incorporates many of the stealth features found on the F-22 Raptor. The F-15SE is inferior to the F-22, but is superior to the F-15C and the SU-30 or SU-35. The U.S. State Department will allow Israel to buy the F-15SE. They will not clear Saudi Arabia to buy the F-15SE. That means Israel will maintain air superiority over Iran, but Saudi Arabia will not. Prepare to watch Saudi Arabia kick and scream and beg the U.S. to sell them the F-15SE or the F-22, which the U.S. will not do.
