MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Police from the Afghan province of Paktia said on Friday that over 100 Taliban militants had been killed the day before in government forces' operations, local media reported.

Several local Taliban commanders were among those killed, while a huge supply of ammunition and weapons were destroyed during the operations, the TOLOnews broadcaster said.

In addition, the government forces have also carried out airstrikes in the province, killing dozens of Taliban militants, the broadcaster added.

The Taliban, however, has reportedly rejected information about the death toll among its militants, adding that dozens of civilians have been killed in these operations.
