Rusinformexport, a subsidiary of Russia's state corporation Rostec, supported by the Russian Export Center (REC), received a contract to create a system of e-government services in Syria, the REC's press service said in a press release.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Under the deal, Rusinformexport is expected to create the infrastructure necessary for electronic communications in the country, the press release added.

"An export contract on creation of e-government in Syria has been signed on the premises of the Russian Ministry of Communications with the participation of Russian Communications Minister Nikolai Nikiforov and Syrian Minister of Communications and Technology Ali Zafir," the press release said on Tuesday, adding that the signing ceremony took place on Thursday.

According to the press release, the Central Bank of Syria has guaranteed the funding of the project, while the REC is set to consult the Rusinformexport in the issues related to the contract risks.
