ANKARA (Sputnik) — On Saturday night, two bombs exploded at a short interval near the Vodafone Arena Stadium.
"Unfortunately, the number of our citizens who died in the terrorist attack in Istanbul has reached 38 people, of which 30 are police officers. A total of 155 people are still being treated in hospitals," Soylu said.
He added that 13 people have been detained in connection with the attack.
According to the Daily Sabah newspaper, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim announced the day of national mourning across the country and said that this violent attack would not be left unpunished.
Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus said earlier in the day there were reasons to believe that the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants, outlawed in Turkey, could have been behind the attack.
