The carrier strike group Dwight D. Eisenhower resumed operations in support of US-led coalition operations against Daesh terror group, the US Navy said in a press release on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The strike group returned to the Navy 6th Fleet area of operations on December 4 after conducting security-cooperation efforts in the Persian Gulf.

"The Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group (Ike CSG) resumed support of Operation Inherent Resolve, Dec. 6, launching sorties from the Eastern Mediterranean," the release stated.

Ike carrier strike group includes the aircraft carrier Dwight D. Eisenhower, Carrier Air Wing 3, guided-missile cruisers San Jacinto and Monterey and Destroyer Squadron 26 with the guided-missile destroyers Roosevelt, Mason and Nitze.

The US-led coalition of more than 60 nations has been conducting airstrikes against Daesh in Syria and Iraq since 2014.
