MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Some 30,000 people have been displaced in recent days, the UN official said.
“There is a figure, a figure which you need to take into account and which we were confronted with today … in Aleppo there are 400,000 IDPs …. This is basically the equivalent or maybe more than Syrian refugees in the whole Europe,” de Mistura told a briefing.
Earlier this month, the first special operation to evacuate the citizens of eastern Aleppo was held. On Monday, the Russian reconciliation center said that the Syrian army had established complete control over 12 districts of eastern Aleppo, liberating some 40 percent of the region’s territory.
On Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Syrian government forces had freed some 90,000 residents.
