The Turkish authorities closed on Monday the Oncupinar border gate because of the intensified fighting between two groups in the bordering Syrian area.

ANKARA (Sputnik) – Both clashing groups – the Levant Front al-Shamiyah group and the Sultan Murad group – are part of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), according to the Dogan news agency.

Fighting between the groups over Syria's al-Selam border gate, which faces the Oncupinar border crossing, erupted earlier in the day.

Kilis Governor Ismail Catakli said that humanitarian and commercial crossings had been temporarily suspended at the Oncupinar gate and authorities had taken additional security measures at the border line.
