According to Ankara mayor’s office, a lone perpetrator of a stabbing attempt at the Israeli Embassy in Turkey is not linked to terrorist organizations.

One 'Neutralized' in Armed Attack on Israeli Embassy in Turkey
ANKARA (Sputnik) A lone perpetrator of a stabbing attempt at the Israeli Embassy in Turkey is not linked to terrorist organizations, the Ankara mayor’s office said Wednesday.

"The man who attacked the Israeli embassy in Ankara is not associated with any of the terrorist groups," the office said in a statement.

Witnesses reportedly described hearing the suspected assailant, who was shot and wounded in the leg by police, shouting "Allahu Akbar" and demanding to "end the bloodshed in the Middle East."

Turkish media name the hospitalized attacker as Konya native Osman Nuri Caliskan, 38, with a suspected history of mental illness.

No others were injured in the attempted attack.
