Military Coup Attempt Underway in Turkey
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — “Turkey military has been ordered to pull out of northern Iraq,” the firm said in a Twitter message on Friday.

Earlier on Friday, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said on live television that a group of military service members were attempting a military coup d'etat in the country.

The Turkish parliament building has reportedly been surrounded by tanks that have opened fire amid an attempted military coup.

According to local media reports, Istanbul’s Bosphorus and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges were shut down and military tanks were seen at Ataturk International Airport.

The Turkish armed forces have been conducting intense offensive against Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which operates from bases in northern Iraq, as well as operations against the Islamic State terrorist group.
