A suicide bomber has blown himself up near the US consulate in Saudi Arabia, local media reported.

A blast hit US consulate in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, according to local reports. The blast is said to be caused by a suicide bomber.

​Two security officials have been injured, according to Arab News newspaper. There were no immediate reports on casualties inside the consulate. Twitter users say the bomber was shot by police in the parking lot.

The blast struck on early morning local time, which marks the Independence Day in the United States.
