WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — In the beginning of June, Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), backed by the United States, have begun an offensive on Manbij to free the city from terrorists.
"Near Manbij, 13 strikes struck 12 separate ISIL [Daesh] tactical units and destroyed five ISIL fighting positions and two ISIL vehicles and damaged a separate ISIL fighting position," CENTCOM stated on Tuesday.
The allied forces also launched three airstrikes near Raqqa and Shaddadi in Syria. The strikes hit a Daesh's explosive device, a bridge, and five oil pump jacks, the release said.
Meanwhile in Iraq, 20 coalition airstrikes near nine cities, including Fallujah, Ramadi and Mosul, destroyed Daesh's assembly areas, fighting positions, tunnel systems and rocket propelled grenade system, among other targets, the Central Command noted.
