The Syrian army and popular forces have won back several strategic mountains in Latakia province in fierce battles fought against the militants in the past 24 hours, Iran’s Fars news agency wrote on Friday.

The Syrian Army took control of most of the Jabal Al-Turkmen mountainous region leaving hundreds of militants killed and wounded. The government forces inflicted heavy losses on the terrorists in other provinces too.

Al-Qaeda's Nusra Front and the Free Syrian Army lost scores of their fighters during the fierce clashes in northern Latakia, retreating over a vast region to avoid more casualties, the agency reported.

In Deir ez-Zor province the Army, backed by Russian and Syrian airstrikes, repelled a coordinated attack by militants and beat back similar attacks on a local university and hotel.

Meanwhile, the central province of Hama was the scene of heavy clashes between the militants and the government forces on Thursday, leaving at least 11 terrorists dead and their headquarters and weapons destroyed.

In the northern countryside of Hama, a field source said that the army units had destroyed the terrorists’ positions in Morek and near al-Sayyad town.

In the northwestern Aleppo province Syrian troops and popular defense forces managed to win back control over the town of Bluzah inflicting heavy losses on the terrorists and destroying a number of machinegun-trucks loaded with mortar shells.

Whenever I read, what is wonderful news about another hard-won triumph by the SAA, I always thank Russia from the heart of my being because its clear, that Russia's presence in Syria, the support and backup it brought to the embattled but brave Syrian Army, was exactly what it needed at the most critical time too.

How can anyone not admire the SAA, who since 2011 (or even since late 2010) had proven to be a force to be reckoned with -- clearly kicking sand in the face of the worst low-life terrorists, supported by the US, the world has ever known. Were these terrorists not consuming organs of the victims they'd captured, of removing them, while the victims were still alive?? Seems an indifferent world has forgotten the actions of these monsters -- so inhumanly cruel, that it defies description!

Yet in face of being confronted by these mediaeval maniacs, the SAA remained indomitable in their determination to rid their country of the pre-planned evil besetting it and Russia's arrival on 30 September last year, provided these courageous Syrian soldiers, the gap they so desperately needed, not only bringing them air cover, but the most sophisticated air cover on the planet and on the ground too, the finely coordinated assistance, the SAA desperately needed.

The day President Putin announced that Russia was entering Syria, I felt a surge of joy, because Assad and the honourable SAA were so deserving of the Bear's assistance!

If mankind is to survive as a specie, it can never allow the wicked amongst it, to debase and destroy the innate goodness pulsating in the hearts of the decent and noble -- ever ready to defend those in need! For if Man fails to uphold what is right and just, it would be akin to failing that which is everlasting -- the very Lord God within us all.

Thus, Russia's rectitude in reaching out to Syria in it's hour of need, stands as testimony of the finest courage in defying those bent on defaming humankind.

choticastile, you've said it all, thank you, 100% . Indeed Wednesday 30th September 2015 wIll be a date which will now never be forgotten. It is already written in the History Book of both Syria and Russia, and I might add, of the world...
To that Date, I will add the now-famous words of Vladimir Putin which he pronounced a fews before the 30th of Sept, at the UN in front of the world :
" DO YOU REALIZE WHAT YOU HAVE DONE?"

To that great country, to the SAA, well done, persevere, most of the world is instinctively with you, most of the world knows that you are doing the right thing, what strikes me is that you are doing all this with fanfare, drums, trumpets, glory, arrogance as some other powers do...I will bet that the latter are learning, watching, fascinated by what they see. May God give them the humility to come back to their senses, may the martyred people of Syria be able to start afresh very soon.

armor, Yes, yes Armor -- Truth ever triumphs over evil and thank God that despite being trodden on by an evil with us from the beginning, Russia and Vladimir Putin -- succeeding to open the eyes and minds of even the most vacuous amongst the elite -- are serving to bring to an end the ungodly ambition of those bent on enslaving all on the planet.

The bear has turned the tide and the SAA is born again. It was a close call as the Takfiris were in Damascus already and the SAA still didn't give up. Now they're learning from what I would say is the best military in the world, Yes I said it, Russia is now No. 1.
