Mohamed Badie, leader of the now-outlawed Muslim Brotherhood, ruled the country under the presidency of ousted President Mohammed Morsi, a report revealed on Sunday.

CAIRO (Sputnik) — After the Morsi government supported by the Brotherhood was ousted, new Egyptian authorities created a committee to examine the assets of the movement and to freeze them.

"According to the uncovered documents, Badie was the person, by whose order some or other ministers, head of the government and the law enforcement authorities were appointed. Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi could not go against these decisions," the report, read by the committee's head, Izzat Khamis, said.

The report added that the Islamist movement planned to dismiss officers disloyal to it from the secret services and to create the new security service, formed under the principle of fidelity to Islam.

Morsi was elected in 2012, but was deposed a year later by a military coup following days of massive demonstrations against him and Muslim Brotherhood.

In April, 2015, Badie as well as some other Brotherhood members were sentenced to death for allegedly planning attacks against the state.
