MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The revelation comes two weeks after US State Secretary John Kerry criticized the Israeli policy of building homes on disputed land and called on Israelis and Palestinians to make peace, during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In a report published on Monday, the Israeli outlet revealed that some 50 US-based charities used donations to buy homes in the contested territories, including in the West Bank city of Hebron, in the period between 2009 and 2013.
The West Bank has been occupied by Israel since the 1967 Six-Day War between Israelis and Palestinians. The United Nations estimates that some 500,000 Jewish settlers live illegally in the West Bank, including in West Jerusalem.
