MOSCOW (Sputnik), Svetlana Alexandrova — Bosko Obradovic stressed that deviations from the established unipolar world order would give small countries like Serbia hope that events like those seen in 1999, when the United States launched a bombing campaign with its NATO allies against Serbia, would not happen again.
"Russian military operation against IS [ISIL] in Syria is a watershed event and a geopolitical revolution as no one can deny the fact of Russia’s growing political influence and its lead in a new multipolar world order and the dusk of the US monopoly on geopolitics," Obradovic said.
"Just a few days of the Russian military action have delivered much more tangible results than the US-led operation," he said.
The US-led coalition of 62 nations has been conducting airstrikes in Syria since September 2014 without the approval of the UN Security Council or the Syrian government.
Since the beginning of the air campaign last week, the Russian Aerospace Forces have killed over 300 militants, and destroyed command centers, training camps and ammunition depots. Russian warships in the Caspian Sea have also fired 26 cruise missiles on ISIL targets.
