US, Coalition Hit Islamic State With 25 Airstrikes in Syria, Iraq – CENTCOM

US and Coalition military forces continued to attack ISIL terrorists in Syria, using attack, fighter, bomber, and remotely piloted aircraft to conduct 18 airstrikes. Separately, US and Coalition military forces conducted seven airstrikes in Iraq, according to statement of a US Central Command (CENTCOM).

 

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – United States and Operation Inherent Resolve military forces furthered the demise of the Islamic State (IS) by conducting 25 airstrikes against the terrorist group in Syria and Iraq, according to a US Central Command (CENTCOM) statement on Monday.

“US and Coalition military forces continued to attack ISIL [Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant] terrorists in Syria, using attack, fighter, bomber, and remotely piloted aircraft to conduct 18 airstrikes,” the statement said. “Separately, US and Coalition military forces conducted seven airstrikes in Iraq.”

In Syria, 18 airstrikes took out ten IS units, two IS vehicles, an IS bunker, and an IS fighting position near Al Hasakah; an IS crude oil collection point near Dayr az Zawr; and five IS tactical units and five IS fighting positions near Kobani, the statement said.

In Iraq, seven airstrikes destroyed two IS tactical units, two IS fighting points, and an IS checkpoint near Al Asad; an IS vehicle near Ar Rutbah; an IS tactical unit near Kirkuk; an IS checkpoint near Mosul; and four IS armored vehicles near Tal Afar, the statement added.

The airstrikes were a part of Operation Inherent Resolve, whose mission is to eliminate the IS and the threat the group poses in Iraq, Syria as well as the rest of the Middle East and the world, according to the statement.
