MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) – In his Twitter address, Morales slammed unilateral political measures, sanctions and interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states, adding that "empires have to put an end to their colonial acts."

The president called for dialogue and the peaceful settlement of international disputes.

"Any form of aggression of the US against any country of the world is intolerable," Morales stressed.

On Thursday, a group of 27 US senators sent a letter to president-elect Donald Trump urging him to take a tougher approach toward Russia.

Relations between Russia and the West soured in 2014 after an overwhelming majority of the Crimean population voted in a referendum to leave Ukraine and rejoin Russia. The United States and the European Union did not recognize the results of the referendum and have imposed several rounds of sanctions on both Russia and Crimea.
