Polish Senate to Continue Working on Legislation Adopted by Embattled Sejm
WARSAW (Sputnik) — The blockade of the work of Poland's parliament by opposition parties constitutes a violation of criminal law, Polish ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski said Wednesday.

"The laws apply to the opposition parliamentarians in the same way as to all citizens, there are no privileges…. And I ask to remember that the prescriptions of the criminal law have been violated. We are dealing with actions that obviously could be characterized as a crime. Blockade, inability of the citizens to move freely, is, first and foremost, a crime," Kaczynski said.

Kaczynski criticized the blockade of the plenary meeting room in the Polish parliament by the opposition and called on media to inform citizens of the ongoing events.

The political crisis in Poland started on Friday, when an opposition lawmaker was asked to leave the parliament session after criticizing the speakers' decision to limit media presence in the Polish parliament.

Protests from other lawmakers prompted speaker Marek Kuchcinski, who is a PiS party, to adjourn the session and reconvene in a different room without opposition members before passing a bill on amendments to the government budget.
